AP McCoy punches the air after
his Gold Cup win on
Mr Mulligan
in 1997 |
“I moved to England in 1995; having previously trained on The Curragh in Ireland for twenty years and also serving as Assistant to Neville Begg in Australia. We have a patient approach to training horses here, educating the youngsters and allowing them the time to fulfil their potential, an approach which has reaped dividends with horses such as River City who has been successfully competing in Grade 1 races over the last two seasons. We have also enjoyed success with our recent French imports, all of whom have won and been placed over hurdles and fences”. “At Berkeley House Stables, we like to make having a horse in training with us an enjoyable experience and owners are always encouraged to visit their horses and share the craic.
Prospective owners are always welcome to come and visit the yard and see for themselves the first-rate staff and facilities. Last year, we started our own Racing Club, the members of which are a very enthusiastic bunch who have enjoyed a couple of get-togethers at the yard over a few glasses of wine!”

“Years ago, Lambourn stood out as the mecca
for National Hunt training, but unfortunately for one reason or another, the standard of the training facilities had slipped a little.
The Jockey Club stepped in at the beginning of
last year and are investing between £2 and £3 million in the
facilities here. So far, they have done a sterling job, and
I firmly believe it is only a matter of time before Lambourn is
back where it belongs at the forefront of National Hunt racing”.
